Ms Pat Anderson AO appointed as co-chair of the Referendum Council.


The Referendum Council was formed in December 2015 to provide advice on the next steps towards recognising Indigenous peoples in the Australian Constitution. Ms Pat Anderson AO joins Mr Mark Leibler AC as co-chair of the Council following the resignation of Professor Patrick Dodson.

In 2009, I was part of a team volunteering in Vietnam as a dental therapist when one of the dental assistants told me about her work in Alice Springs. Her passion for this work was evident and she inspired me to also look to se­­­­ek work in this area upon our return.

RAHC is delighted to announce Christine Burrows, Registered Nurse, is the recipient of the 2015 Annette Walker Award. Christine has undertaken 14 placements with RAHC at Nyirippi, Ali Curung, Epenarra, Palumpa, Milingimbi, Yuendemu, Ti Tree and Finke.

Is your CPR competency up to date?


It is recommended that CPR should be maintained and renewed on an annual basis by the Australian Resuscitation Council.

All health professionals are responsible for maintaining their CPR annual competency prior to accepting a placement.

Major milestones achieved

Remote Area Health Corps (RAHC) has appointed Elly (Helena) Fontes as the organisation’s new Clinical Manager. Ms Fontes has stepped into the role following the departure of Fiona Wake late last year to take up a new role within the Northern Territory Department of Health.

The Close the Gap 2016 report has been released today by Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull at Parliament House, Canberra.

According to the progress report, there are targets on track: Halve child mortality by 2018 and halve the gap in Year 12 attainment by 2020.
