Preparations for NAIDOC Week 2022 are underway. This year's theme Get up! Stand up! Show up! is about championing institutional, structural, collaborative and cooperative change and celebrating those who have already led change over the generations.
In preparation for the week, the National NAIDOC Committee is calling for nominations for the 2022 National NAIDOC Awards. These awards recognise outstanding contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in a range of categories, including:
- 2022 National NAIDOC Caring for Country and Culture Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Creative Talent Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Education Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Female Elder Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Innovation Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Lifetime Achievement Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Male Elder Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Person Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Sportsperson Award
- 2022 National NAIDOC Youth Award

Additionally, the committee invites Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to submit their artwork in the National NAIDOC Poster Competition.
The competition is open to artists aged 13 years and older. It is an opportunity for individuals to have their artwork recognised internationally as a representation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander histories, cultures and achievements.
The winning artist will have their artwork used as the official 2022 NAIDOC Week Poster, receive a $10,000 cash prize and receive a ticket for themselves and a guest to the National NAIDOC Awards ceremony.
Submissions close at 11:59PM (AEDT) on14 March 2022.
